STEP 1

1. Before you start the Skeggard Installation to repair your skeg, make sure that you have two to three inches of skeg remaining. Prepare the skeg of the lower unit by filing or sanding any rough or jagged edges that may exist.

STEP 2

Install the Skeggard onto your new or damaged skeg. Tap in place with a rubber mallet or block of wood. DO NOT FORCE!!!

STEP 3

3. Using the predrilled holes on the Skeggard as guides, drill through your skeg using a 1/4″ drill bit. Install the hardware through the Skeggard only finger tight.

STEP 4

4. The hardware must tighten against the sides of the Skeggard. If this does not happen, you need to reorganize the hardware to achieve the correct length. The mounting bolts that are included with the Skeggard are designed to shear in the event of a severe impact.

STEP 5

5. Different lengths can be achieved by taking the hardware apart and mixing different length studs. Remove the hardware and apply the LOCTITE supplied. To do this, shake well before use. Make sure threads are clean.

STEP 6

6. To open tube, snap tube neck below end cap. Apply LOCTITE to threaded areas, assemble hardware and tighten securely.

STEP 7

7. You must wait 24 hours before use to allow LOCTITE to fully cure. Failure to do so may result in loss of product and incomplete repair. The Skeggard is warranted against defects in workmanship. Manufacturer will repair or replace upon return of the defective unit.

I can't find my model version?

If you can’t find your model number or version it’s possible that we don’t have a custom made Skeggard yet for you to repair your skeg. Be sure to contact us to double check. We are always looking to grow our model list. Feel free to request a addition.

Do I need to buy a bolt kit?

When you buy a Skeggard it comes with a bolt kit so you do not need to purchase one separately. You however may add an extra bolt kit to your order if you would like to have an extra for your repair.

How can I become a Skeggard dealer?

What is the Skeggard made of?

The Skeggard is made from marine grade stainless steel. It is shaped like a cap which slides up and over your new or damaged skeg and bolts in place with special hardware included in every kit.

Does the Skeggard affect my performance?

If your boat is running speeds less than 70 mph then there will be no effect on your performance.

What happens when I hit something?

Under water obstructions are very unpredictable. Damage to your skeg with or without the Skeggard installed can still happen, possibly requiring repair. With all the years of testing and customer input results show the damage to a skeg with a Skeggard installed is little to none.

Why are the bolts used?

The bolts that are used to install the skeg guard repair kit are specially made to shear in the event of an severe impact.

Will installing a Skeggard void my warranty?

This is a common question. Your motor skeg does not have a warranty on it. If you ever hit something and damage your skeg there is no warranty that covers this repair.

How does the Skeggard warranty work?

The Skeggard lifetime warranty gives you an insurance policy on your purchase. If you damage your Skeggard beyond repair we will replace your original purchase only with a new Skeggard for just the shipping cost. How this works. If you were to hit by an underwater object or happen to damage your skeg guard in any way we will replace our skeg guard at no cost. Proof of damage is required so call for details. If you loose your guard due to an impact and are unable to prove damage please call for special circumstances.

Does my Skeggard qualify for a warranty?

To know for sure, it’s always best to contact our team and provide your order number and the date you purchased your Skeggard. Make sure that the brand name of the skeg protecter is Skeggard. We’re the original skeg guard.

How do I apply for a replacement Skeggard?

How do I make a return?

If for any reason you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase please follow our simple return policies.

 

  • 1. Call or e-mail us for a return authorization number.
  • 2. Repack the items securely with original packing materials, if possible.
  • 3. Send your return via UPS or Parcel Post Ground Service.
  • 4. Keep your shipping receipt as proof of return.

What is the time frame policy?

Within 30 days of the date it was shipped receive a full refund less shipping.

 

After 30 days you will also be charged a 20% restocking fee.

 

After 90 days we will not accept any returns.

What is a cancellation?

Cancellations for orders that are canceled before they are shipped will be charged a $5.00 dollar service fee. If you call to cancel your order after it has been shipped, please follow our return policy.
